Shoes Befitting a Side Kick
Posted by admin | Filed under Fashion, Shoes
Here it is, two posts in one day from the world’s laziest blogger (does that come with a cash prize)? When picking up some odds and ends for the extremely imminent arrival of my little side-kick, I came upon these precious silver beauties. I couldn’t resist and purchased them immediately. She will learn early about the merits of fabulous footwear! I cannot believe that in the next couple of weeks there will suddenly be a new little person in our lives. It is incredibly surreal.
Scrimps and Biscuits Awareness
Posted by admin | Filed under Shoes
As long as I am posting about comical, foot/ankle phenomenon. I found it very necessary to discuss a worldwide epidemic: SCRIMPS and BISCUITS. The fashionavenger must first give a shout out to those catty women at the Estee Lauder counter, who taught her (during that summer job in college) about these terms.
The first condition, SCRIMPS, is a phenomenon that occurs when a woman is wearing open-toe shoes, and her toes hang over the edge and start to curl (like shrimps on the edge of a martini glass in a shrimp cocktail, are you with me now?). In the fashionavenger’s experience, there are a few ways this can happen. 1. The woman is wearing shoes that are too small for her (this is the most common offense). 2. The woman is wearing very high heels, but the straps are not tight enough to keep her scrimps from getting pushed over the edge. Unless you like the added security of wrapping your toes around the edge of your shoes; check your toes (in profile) in a mirror next time you shoe-shop.
The second affliction is more common: “Biscuits.” A biscuit may be tasty to eat, but it should never be used to describe your feet! When a woman’s heel hangs over the back of her shoe, it is like a biscuit hanging out the edge of the basket. This problem can also be solved by checking out your foot (in shoe) in profile.
The big take-away from this is buy shoes that fit you; not only will the shoes be more comfortable, you will also look more fabulous! Bring a friend with you on your next shoe-adventure to help you keep a look out for these scourges of foot-to-shoe harmony.
Friends don’t let friends get Scrimps and Biscuits!
Cankles…Nature’s Cruel Joke, or fixable flaw?
Posted by admin | Filed under Shoes
Ladies, ladies, ladies I would like to spread some cankle awareness. Some of you may ask, what is a “cankle”, it is the phenomenon when a person seems to have no visible ankles; the calf seems to just attach to the feet directly (ergo-”cankle”). If this body condition has happened to you, have no fear, the fashionavenger is here.
What to do? My best suggestion is to avoid flat shoes; flat shoes will offer no aesthetic value to your figure flaw. You need a little lift to accentuate and lengthen the distance from your calves to your feet. If you can’t do heels, try a sexy wedge. Not only do wedges add height, but they are comfortable and easy to wear. Now, they even make sneaker styles, like these Michael Kors.
Don’t get too smug you long-ankled women out there, you too can fall into the “cankle” trap without even knowing it. Although popularized by Cameron Diaz, Uggs, in this fashionavenger’s opinion, are the WORST insta-cankle offenders. Nothing can make your ankle look more non-existant than a big ‘ol fluffy mass! If you still insist on flat boots, try a mid-calf slouchy number instead. Then you get comfort and some proportion lengthening height.
There is always a fashion solution in the wings, no one need suffer; no matter what age or size you are.

I am in love with these Choos. Edgy and beautiful, what more could you ask for (except to change the zipper from gold to antique nickel)? If the fashionavenger had money to burn, these babies would be in her closet, until then…it is love unrequited.
